Italian artist Stephan Jolk launches into the new year with an EP that sees him at his most intuitive yet. Debuting on Watergate Records in 2021, Stephan became a welcomed regular last year as a string of cuts held big appeal with the iconic label’s fans. As a DJ, he’s on line-ups that guarantee a ceaseless supply of searing, high-octane techno cuts, from festivals DGTL, CRSSD and EXIT, to Watergate, Warung, Elrow, and Renaissance events. Through a bustling 2022 in his techno circles, Jolk tapped out to hone in on his deeper side, one which gives him steam to express the emotional qualities of electronic music. At the core of Jolk’s invigorating EP is the theme of human connection and femininity, with the melodies speaking to the power of love, friendship and women as a source of inspiration. The two-tracker gets going with ‘Sleeping Beauty’, a vitalising cut with a heightening female chant that guarantees to lead euphoria among dancers. ‘Keep Going” is highlighted by another female vocal that comes through as a guiding presence over a mellow, stirring groove.
